The "Oyakodon" translated as Mother and Child, celebrates quite tragically or gleefully the bond between the mother and child. The chicken, the mother, dies along with her egg, to feed a hungry human. This piece is inspired by Ang Kiukok's mother and child, a family owned painting I loved as a child myself. Oyakodon carries dark humor in a sense. The topic, while presented in a cartoon like manner, is actually quite sinister.
